The humble Kettlebell.

It can be by its lonesome self, with no other equipment needed and still give you an effective workout. It’s not always the most comfortable piece of equipment but once you learn the fundamentals it’s arguably one of the best investments you can make toward your fitness goals. Here’s why:

1. Low-impact cardio – get your heart rate up without any strain on your joints like running/jumping)

2. Increase full body strength – from your gluteus to your core to your shoulder.  The Kettlebell will build strength from top to bottom

3. Improves coordination and mobility – Kettlebell movements require good full-body coordination. Frequently training with Kettlebells will improve your coordination as well as increase the demand on mobility, helping you get that tight lats, shoulders and hips nice and limber.

Fights imbalance and improves symmetry- Kettlebell exercises are unilateral in nature. This means that you either perform reps with one side at a time or have one bell in each hand so your arms work independently.

Helps develop explosiveness and power. You can’t swing in slow-motion with a kettlebell. Frequently doing movements with speed and explosiveness will improve just that.

So next time you see a big old Kettlebell at your local gym, give it a bash, remember to start light, it mightjust open a whole new world of fitness for you.
